Drunk Canadian citizen shows knives in Bali due to lost ATM card

Solo – A Canadian citizen, Mohamed Reda Della, caused trouble outside Naty’s restaurant on Jalan Kayu Aya, Kerobokan Kelod Village, Badung, Bali. The man was drunk and brandished a knife-shaped object.

Reported detikBali, Badung Police Chief AKBP Teguh Priyo Wasono revealed that the trigger was that Reda had lost his ATM card. The incident happened on Friday (9/6). The police intervene and arrest Reda.

“Because the distributor (card) was lost in an entertainment venue, the person concerned was angry. He saw a lot of people, scared, as if he thought someone had taken it, so he s ‘is angry,” Teguh said at a press conference at Badung Police Headquarters on Monday (6/12/2023).

The incident was filmed and the video is circulating on social networks. In the video, Reda can be seen mumbling while showing his knife to several people outside Naty’s restaurant. A local approached him and appeared to ask the stranger to stop what he was doing.

Reda was involved in an argument with a stranger who was with a woman there. Caucasian women were seen screaming hysterically while pulling their male friends’ hands away.

Teguh continued, Reda was angry and carried out disturbing actions not because he had problems with other people. According to him, Reda’s health condition at that time was out of control and he felt threatened, so he pulled out a knife in front of several people.

“He got the evidence from the villa where he lived. He took it, put it under the seat of the motorbike just in case, to protect himself,” Teguh said.

Reda told police the knife he showed when he was drunk was just a toy knife. After the incident, he threw it away.

The police did not believe it. The police tried to find evidence to prove the attacker’s words, but were not found.

“He said at that time he forgot where to throw it because he was very drunk at that time. He doesn’t remember,” Teguh said.

For his actions, Reda is suspected of endangering public order. The police handed Reda over to Immigration for deportation.
