Famous for the Inca Trail and its lush rainforests, Peru introduces the digital nomad visa

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Peru has announced plans to introduce a visa for digital nomads. This will allow remote workers to stay in the country for 365 days with the possibility of extension.

Citing the Euro News page, Monday, December 4, 2023, European Union citizens can currently travel to Peru with a 183-day tourist visa. The goal of the new program is to attract international professionals to Peru.

The hope is of course to improve the country’s economy through tourism and services while supporting cultural exchange. Some regular visitors who stay in the country can also run their business by obtaining an investor visa.

So, who is eligible for a Peruvian digital nomad visa? Peru’s new digital nomad visa is intended for remote workers employed by companies abroad. They therefore do not need to obtain a separate work visa.

The government announced in November that it hoped the extended stay would give nomads time to explore the country’s tourism, gastronomic and cultural offerings while working remotely.

Visas will be available once the upcoming changes to Peru’s migration law are regulated and published. But the question is: is Peru a good place to become a digital nomad?

Peru is seeing a growing experience of digital nomads, particularly in the capital Lima, where coworking spaces or A common workspace abundant. You can find one from international names like WeWork.
