FIBA World Cup 2023: Canadian coach wary of support from Latvian fans at Indonesia Arena

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Canada scored a big victory in the 2023 FIBA World Cup Group H match against Lebanon. Competing at the Indonesia Arena on Sunday (8/27/2023) afternoon WIB, Jordi Fernandez’s troops were superior with a final score of 128-73.

The result marks Canada’s second victory after managing to topple the champion French team with a 95-65 lead. Fernandez’s troops also currently lead Group H and have a good chance of qualifying for the next phase.

Even though he had positive results in the first two matches, the Canadian coach seems rather wary about the third match against Latvia. The reason is that, as is known, the team also managed to reap positive results by defeating Lebanon 109-70 on Friday (25/8/2023).

Not to mention, Latvia also received enthusiastic support from the home fans at the Indonesia Arena. It is one of the countries that has a large number of supporters, with them appearing united in their presence in the country, wearing the proud attributes of their team.

“The next match is the most important match. We have to focus on Latvia at the moment. They are an extraordinary team, the coach is good and we have been playing together for a long time,” Jordi Fernández said at a press conference after the match, Sunday (8/27/2023).

“(They) also get a lot of support from the fans here. So we are very excited about the match against Latvia, of course,” said the 40-year-old coach.
