The match between Canada and Spain was very fierce from the first minute. The two teams took turns chasing each other and the score was often drawn. Spain had a six-point lead midway through the first quarter thanks to Willy Hernangomez’s jump shot.

However, Canada immediately recovered and even managed to take a half-ball lead after RJ Barrett scored five points in a row. Barrett then brought Canada within three points with two free throws. The first quarter ended 21-21 after Alberto Diaz scored a three-pointer.

In the second quarter, Spain dominated. The duo of brothers Juancho and Willy Hernangomez led Spain to leave Canada. Willy’s pass, which Juancho completed with a dunk, gave Spain a 44-37 lead with 135 minutes left in the second quarter.
