FIFA World Cup loser, here’s Bianca Andreescu’s support for the Canadian team

Tennis News: Bianca Andreescu took to Instagram to send a message of support for the Canadian soccer team after their run at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in the group stage ended.

At Al-Thumama Stadium in Qatar, Morocco beat Canada 2-1 to advance to the group stage for the first time in 36 years. Canada’s elimination from the prestigious soccer event was confirmed before the game even started.

This year’s appearance was the Canadian men’s first World Cup appearance in 36 years and only the second time in history.

The 2019 US Open champion also uploaded a message via Instagram story along with a pre-game photo, plus a two hands raised emoji and the Canadian national flag to show his support.

Canada finished the World Cup without scoring a single point, after losing to Belgium 1-0 and Croatia 4-1. After the loss to Morocco, Canada have now lost their first six World Cup matches, becoming the third team in history after Mexico and El Salvador. Despite the disappointing loss, they earned praise for their fighting power against Belgium.

Alphonso Davies, who plays as a winger for Canada and plays for Bayern Munich, hopes to help his team achieve even more when they host the next edition of the World Cup with Mexico and the United States.

Meanwhile, Andreescu supports Tennis Canada’s Giving Tuesday fundraising initiative, which is helping to grow tennis in Canada. Tennis Canada has launched an initiative to help the next generation of Canadian tennis.

Through the official Tennis Canada Instagram account after the end of the campaign, the 2019 US Open champion showed his gratitude for the contribution and support from the community.

“I’m feeling emotional right now as I write this. Your generosity on Giving Tuesday means a lot to me and to all current and future tennis players that Tennis Canada supports. Together we have raised a total of 190 000 US dollars,” Andreescu said.

“Your support gives every tennis player the edge to be the best and make our dream come true, while making Canada the preeminent country in world tennis!” From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your donation and support. »
