Foreign Media Highlight Announcement of Ganjar Pranowo as PDIP Presidential Candidate

Several foreign media have underlined the determination Ganjar Pranowo as a candidate for the presidency of IDP today, Friday (21/4).

At least three foreign media highlighted the incident, including Channel News Asia, BNN Bloomberg and Business Times.

Channel News Asia (CNA) reported it with the headline “The Indonesian Democratic Struggle Party (PDI-P) announced on Friday, April 21 that Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo will be its presidential candidate for next year’s upcoming elections” Friday (21/4).

In its article, the Singaporean outlet said that Megawati’s nomination process for Ganjar as its presidential candidate was also attended by Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Indonesian Parliament Speaker Puan Maharani.

“She (Megawati) was accompanied by President Joko Widodo and his daughter Puan Maharani who served as the President of Political and Security Affairs of the PDIP,” the news wrote on Asian News Channel Friday (21/4)

At the same time, two other foreign media from Canada, namely BNN Bloomberg and Business Times Singapore, also reported on the incident.

BNN Bloomberg wrote the news with the headline “Ganjar Pranowo is the presidential choice of the ruling party in Indonesia”

Meanwhile, the Business Times wrote news under the headline “Indonesia’s ruling party backs provincial governor Ganjar for 2024 presidency”

It is known that Ganjar Pranowo officially became resident candidate for the PDIP today after being nominated by Megawati Soekarnoputri in Batu Tulis, Bogor on Friday (4/21) afternoon.

“At 1:45 p.m. saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, appointed Brother Ganjar Pranowo, now Governor of Central Java, as a cadre and party officer to increase his assignment as the candidate for President of the Republic of Indonesia from the Indonesian Democratic Party of wrestling,” Megawati said.
