Specifically in Indonesia, the climbing world championship includes only one class of racing, namely speed (speed).
He also hopes that Veddriq Leonardo can shine at the Jakarta 2023 Climbing World Championships. Moreover, this 26-year-old athlete has just set a new world record during the qualifying competition for the Climbing World Championships from Seoul, South Korea. As for the female category, the federation is more wary of European athletes who are always impressive at each event of the Climbing World Cup.
“From the beginning, the athletes in the women’s category from Europe were very strong. Previously, China and America were the main enemies in the men’s category, while for women from Europe,” he said. added.
Yenny also said that FPTI is targeting Indonesia to maintain its gains and hopes there will be an all-Indonesian final in one of the climbing sport’s prestigious events.
“FPTI’s goal is for our athletes to be able to maintain their achievements. Fortunately, they can make it to the all-Indonesian final. If they don’t, they will get a medal, if they can, they will still get a gold medal. ,” he said.
He added that as hosts, Indonesia would field 22 athletes in this event. For the male category, the Red and White team will be represented by 12 athletes and the female category will be represented by 10 athletes.
“Indonesia had the opportunity to host twice. About 120 athletes will participate in this event. Specifically, Indonesia will send 22 athletes, 12 male athletes and 10 female athletes,” he said.
Launching the IFSC website on Friday, this international event will bring together 16 countries from the continents of Asia, Europe and America. The 16 countries that appeared were Austria, America, China, Ecuador, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Germany, Canada, South Korea, France, Poland , Singapore, Spain, Turkey and Ukraine.
The World Championship qualifying round will start on Saturday (6/5/2023) from 6:15 p.m. WIB. For the final round, it will take place on Sunday (05/07/2023) from 8:00 p.m. WIB.
The timing of this event is different from last year. Yenny said the time change for this event was to accommodate time zones around the world.
“Of course, we are based on coordination with them (IFSC) and this world championship is always broadcast around the world, in fact adapting to different time zones,” concluded Yenny.
