Elshinta.com – Indonesian professional boxer Hebi Marapu added to his collection of championship belts after knocking out Phissanu Chimsunthom in the second round of 10 rounds at the Ambassador Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand, on Saturday (4/3).

With the win, Hebi defended his WBC Asian Boxing Council Continental lightweight title and won the vacant IBA Intercontinental Lightweight Championship belt.

Hebi obtained the championship belt directly from the president of the WBC Asian Boxing Council Col. Thanapol Bhakdibhumi and IBA President Stéphane Cabrera. After the fight, Hebi said two championship belts added to his confidence, but did not satisfy him.

“First of all, I thank God for this victory. I also thank the management of XBC Sportech for trusting me so that I can now have two championship belts,” Hebi said in a written statement received in Jakarta, Sunday.

“These two titles make me confident that I can take it to the next level. I am not happy with my current achievements and I am still aiming for bigger titles,” added the West Sumba boxer.

The combination of the application of sports science and the coaching provided by Canadian coach David John Treharne made Hebi look different.

From the start, this 34-year-old boxer fought with discipline, throwing left jabs to dismantle the opposing defense. Phissanu himself performed quite well with his nimble body and footwork to dodge Hebi’s punches.

After exploring enough of the opponent’s style, Hebi started throwing a lot of combination punches in the second round. Midway through the second round, Hebi’s right hook knocked Phissanu down.

Going into the final 50 seconds, Phissanu went down for the second time due to Hebi’s right hand and was again counted out by the referee.

It didn’t end there, Hebi’s right hook hit the opponent for the third time and the referee stopped the match.

The victory made Hebi’s fight record 18 wins (13 KOs), one loss and one draw. Meanwhile, Phissanu has a record of 47 wins (16 KOs), 10 losses (8 KOs) and two draws.

In the extra match, another Indonesian boxer, Jon Jon Jet, also picked up a third-round TKO victory of the scheduled eight rounds against a young Thai boxer, Songchai Songklod. With this win, Jon has a record of 13 wins (10 KOs), and one loss.

With a long reach, Jon appears tactical and impressive. Since the first round, Jon has continued to throw jabs to break up Songchai’s defense. Not only relying on jabs, Jon also showed off nimble leg and body movements.

Jon looked more comfortable in the second round. His jab was able to penetrate Songchai’s double coverage.

Going into the third round, Jon started throwing punches to the body which managed to bring Songchai to his knees and get his first count. Starting with a right hook to the body, Jon’s punch combination finally stopped Songchai’s resistance with 1 minute 10 seconds remaining in round three.

XBC Sportech CEO Urgyen Rinchen Sim expressed satisfaction with the Fist of Glory event and the performances of the boxers under the management of XBC Sportech namely Hebi, Jon and Hamzah Farouk who all won.

“What a night. We managed to lead Hebi to win two championship belts, which were personally given by WBC Asian Boxing Council President Col. Thanapol Bhakdibhumi and IBA President Stephane Cabrera. Their presence shows their appreciation for what XBC Sportech has done in the development of Indonesian professional boxing,” Sim said.
