Hundreds of Canadians have mysterious brain disease, symptoms of hallucinations and memory loss

Jakarta

Cases of the mysterious brain disease have arisen in the Canadian province of New Brunswick, and the number of people affected is expected to continue to grow. Now, a number of health experts say there are already more than 200 people suffering from this mysterious disease. Like what?

In 2015, a small group of patients appeared and presented neurological symptoms in the form of hallucinations, muscle wasting, vision problems, memory loss and abnormal movements. However, the number continues to grow until it reaches 48 cases.

Today, the number of young people suffering from this mysterious disease continues to grow at an unusual rate. They often have symptoms such as dementia or signs of other neurological problems.

“I am deeply concerned about the growing number of early and early onset neurological syndromes,” neurologist Dr. Alier Marrero said in a January 30, 2023 letter he wrote to New Brunswick’s Chief Medical Officer quoted by the New York Message, Tuesday (4/7/2023).

“Over the past year, I have followed 147 cases, ranging in age from 17 to 80. Of these, 57 were early cases and 41 were early cases,” he continued.

Previously, in 2021, according to the Daily Mail, there had been nine cases of death associated with this mysterious brain disease. But a government investigation that believed environmental toxins were the cause of the disease was abruptly terminated in 2021.

In February 2022, the Government of New Brunswick’s Public Health Unit stated that in fact there is no evidence of a cause for the neurological syndromes suffered by a group of people in their area.

“People in this group had symptoms that varied widely from case to case, and no evidence of a common disease or syndrome of unknown cause,” the report said.
