Solo song Jimin BTSLike Crazy, managed to debut atop the Billboard Hot 100. This achievement also set a record on the popular US charts.
Jimin is the first South Korean soloist to debut on the Billboard Hot 100, the first BTS member to reach that position as a soloist, and of course, this is Jimin’s first milestone in his solo career.
According to reports Signposts Monday (3/4) US time, the song which was released on March 24 was boosted by sales figures for the song which was released in five versions.
The original Korean and English version of Like Crazy was released on March 24, and then the Deep House and UK Garage versions, along with the instrumental, were released on March 26.
During the recording period from March 24 to March 30, 2023, the song Like Crazy sold 254,000 units as downloads and CD singles, and had streaming views of up to 10 million streams and played 64,000 times on the radio.
Billboard even noted that the number of sales of the single Like Crazy was the highest since the release of Taylor Swift’s single Anti-Hero on November 19, 2022. At that time, the song was available in seven versions.
Meanwhile, Jimin’s debut solo album FACE debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 album sales chart.
Like Crazy is one of six songs from the album FACE. The other songs on the album are Like Crazy (in English), Face-off, Interlude: Dive, Alone and Set Me Free Pt. 2 which was previously released as a single.
A number of musicians such as Pdogg, Supreme Boi, GHSTLOOP, EVAN, BLVSH and Chris James, as well as team leader RM, took part in the production of the album.
FACE is an album that depicts Jimin BTS facing himself and preparing for a new start as a soloist after the pandemic.
A week before the album’s release, musician whose full name is Park Ji-min released Set Me Free Pt. 2, a hip-hop song about resolving to move forward freely, free from pain, sadness and emptiness.
The agency revealed that the song took No. 1 on the iTunes Top Songs chart in 110 countries, including the UK, Canada, Italy and Finland, the following day.
Jimin is the fourth BTS member to release a solo project after J-Hope, Jin, and RM.
Jimin debuted in 2013 as a member of BTS. Before the release of the solo album, he showed his unique color through Lie and Serendipity, his two solo songs on the BTS album.
He also released With You, which became the soundtrack for the drama Our Blues, as well as a collaboration with Ha Sung-woon. Recently, Jimin BTS also collaborated with BIGBANG’s Taeyang in Vibe.
