Tennis News: Canadian tennis player Milos Raonic will officially return to the ATP tournament after being absent since July 2021.
The Canadian national’s career has been hampered by a number of injuries, but the most recent one has truly brought a relentless streak to all her endeavors over nearly two seasons. In the 2011 season, she broke into the top 100 and finished the season ranked 31st in the world.
Since then, the 32-year-old has finished every season until the 2016 season ranked in the top 15 with a best result when she ended a season as world number 3. And exactly one season after that, he started to struggle with injuries. He was forced to withdraw from a series of tournaments and finished the season outside the top 20.
For a while there were rumors that he is expected to return to competition soon, but now it has been confirmed that his name is on the list of players who will take part in the Libema Open, ‘s-Hertogenbosch 2023 season, which will be the player’s first tournament tennis in the past two seasons.
It is no surprise that Raonic chose the grass season as the start of his return to ATP tournaments. After many seasons, the green court has been a better court for him, even on the court where he experienced the greatest success in his career.
In the 2016 season, the Canadian tennis player played in the Wimbledon final against British tennis player Andy Murray but ultimately lost in three straight sets. She went on to reach the Grand Slam quarter-finals twice and she is looking to repeat that feat once more this season.
But it remains to be seen how difficult it will be for Raonic to return to full fitness. Over the past few months, Murray and Austria international Dominic Thiem have shown how difficult it is to get back into top form after being out for a while. But they are both currently on the right path and show a few without promising fans.
Raonic last competed in Atlanta in July 2021 and lost his first match to American Brandon Nakashima in three sets.
