Making India proud, Purvika Chhuneja wins World Folk Festival in Canada



Quote Khalsa Fox On Saturday (10/28), the event was organized by the International Punjabi Folk Arts Society and took place over three years, from October 6 to 8, in the state of British Columbia, Canada.

There were 90 teams participating in the World Folk Festival competition from Canada, America, Australia, England and India.



Purvika Chhuneja's team named 'Sunehri Pippal Pattian' demonstrated their immense talent and passion for gidda. They managed to secure third place in the competition.

This extraordinary feat was achieved after Chhuneja received the Best Dancer award at the All-Canadian Gidda competition, organized by Flower City, Brampton, Canada.

Chhuneja's journey to success in the dance world began in her childhood, when she started practicing Punjabi folk dance at the age of four.

While a student at PAU, Chhuneja won first place in the solo dance category at the University Level Youth Festival. Additionally, Chhuneja and her team won first place at the PAU Youth Festival in 2017 and 2018.

As her dance career continues to shine on the global stage, Chhuneja is pursuing an MBA program at a Canadian university, demonstrating her commitment to academic and artistic excellence.

Chhuneja's achievements in the field of Punjabi folk dance not only celebrate cultural heritage but also reinforce the importance of preserving and promoting such rich traditions on international platforms.
