WELDON, KOMPAS.com – One of two brothers who were on the run in a mass stabbing incident in Canada has been found dead, police said on Monday (09/05/2022).

The knife attack in Canada killed 10 people and injured 18 others.

Assistant Federal Police Commissioner Rhonda Blackmore told a press conference: “The body of Damien Sanderson (one of the perpetrators) was found outside in a grassy area near the house that is excavated”.

The house is located in the James Smith Cree Nation, which is an aboriginal area.

There were visible injuries on his body, Blackmore continued, quoted by the AFP news agency.

His brother Myles Sanderson remains at large, he added. “He may also have injuries, but it’s not confirmed yet.”

Blackmore added that the public should remain vigilant as Sanderson may seek medical attention, being suspected of being armed and dangerous after taking part in a mass knife attack in Canada.

The exact cause of death will be determined by the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Office, which has not yet set a date or time for an inquest.
