F1 News: Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has revealed his team’s plans to implement two further upgrades to the W14 car when the championship visits England and Hungary.
Mercedes have come a long way since introducing the improved W14 car at the Monaco Grand Prix. One of their representatives, Lewis Hamilton, has entered the podium area twice in the last three series.
As The Silver Arrows continue to improve their performance, Toto Wolff, as team principal, has confirmed that he will provide another update around the British GP and the Hungarian GP.
“Yes, we brought the biggest to Silverstone. And then we have to have one more before we close,” he said.
“It’s just that the learning has accelerated a lot since we changed some of the conceptual architecture. There must be decent progress to come in the next four races,” continued the Austrian.
Even though George Russell, who was Hamilton’s teammate, failed to finish, the Canadian GP was a positive weekend for Mercedes. Low speed cornering is known to be the main weakness of the W14 car. But the fact is that Hamilton is still able to catch Fernando Alonso to fight for second place.
“For us, we weren’t expecting to be in Canada because of the DNA of the current car, so it’s encouraging not to go overboard,” said Wolff.
“But we must not forget that Max always has it easier in front, not in cruising but I think there is still a margin. So there are enough advantages to catch up,” he concluded. .
