Jakarta: Netflix launches its first public test of cloud-streamed games. Starting Monday, August 14, 2023, select Netflix users in Canada and the United Kingdom will be able to view Netflix Games streaming on select TVs, connected TV devices and on the web.
To quote EdgesIn a blog post, Netflix VP of Games Mike Verdu called the feature a limited beta test for a limited number of subscribed members, so subscribers in Canada and the UK can enjoy it soon.
While this initial rollout is still relatively small, the feature marks a potentially big moment for Netflix’s gaming ambitions. The content streaming company first launched its mobile game offering as a free offering for subscribers in November 2021.

So far, Netflix-owned game titles aren’t only available on iOS and Android. By bringing games to TVs and web browsers via cloud streaming, Breaches have the potential to play Netflix’s game titles on more devices.
This also means that Netflix will also start competing for game titles on TV and PC. The two games currently available are Oxenfree from Netflix’s Night School Studio and a new title, Molehew’s Mining Adventure, which Verdu describes as a gem-mining arcade game.
When played on a TV, the user will control the game using a smartphone. On the Android version of the platform, controllers will be accessible through the Netflix app, while on the iOS version of the platform, users will need to download a dedicated controller app, as explained by spokesperson Chrissy Kelleher.
The Netflix game streaming service is currently compatible with connected TVs and TV devices, including Amazon Fire TV streaming media players, Chromecast with Google TV, LG TVs, NVIDIA Shield TVs, Roku TVs and devices, Samsung Smart TVs and Walmart Onn TVs.
Verdu promises that other compatible devices will be added in the future.
