North Korea fires a ballistic missile at sea off the east coast of the Korean Peninsula

PYONGYANG, iNewsBalikpapan.id – North Korea (Korut) again fired a ballistic missile at sea off the east coast of the Korean Peninsula. The Japanese Coast Guard also said what North Korea fired could have been a ballistic missile.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), as reported by Yonhap News Agency, reported that the missile was launched from the Tongchang-ri area on the country’s west coast on Sunday. (3/19/2023) at 11:05 a.m. local time. The area is North Korea’s main long-range rocket launch site.

“While increasing surveillance and vigilance in anticipation of possible additional launches, our military maintains a full readiness posture in close cooperation with the United States,” the JCS said in a message sent to reporters.

Earlier, North Korea also fired an intercontinental ballistic missile into the sea between the Korean Peninsula and Japan on Thursday (3/16/2023).

The launch came hours before the South Korean president is due to travel to Tokyo for a summit to discuss ways to counter North Korea’s nuclear weapons.

The United States (United States), Canada, India, Japan and South Korea (South Korea) held joint anti-submarine warfare exercises. The exercise titled “Sea Dragon 23” started on Wednesday (3/15/2023) and will end on Thursday next week.

Training participants include tracking simulated targets to track US Navy submarines.

Concerns persist that North Korea could use allied exercises as a pretext to launch major provocations, such as ICBM launches and even nuclear tests. Publisher: Mukmin Azis
