Operator of tourist submarine Titanic OceanGate closes all operations

Bisnis.com, JAKARTA – OceanGate Expeditions, a US based company which is the operator submarine titanic journey, Titansceased all operational activities.

reported from Reuters On Friday (7/7/2023), the company made the announcement on its official website.

“OceanGate has ceased all commercial exploration and exploitation activities,” OceanGate wrote.

Prior to shutting down operations, OceanGate is known to have planned two expeditions to the site of the Titanic wreck which lies in a corner of the North Atlantic Ocean in June 2024.

US and Canadian authorities are currently investigating why the Titan exploded under the sea, killing all five people on board.

The US Coast Guard discovered what appears to be human remains and wreckage from a submarine last week. An examination of the debris should shed some light on the cause of the explosion.

The Titan submarine reportedly exploded after losing contact on June 22. Five passengers from the submarine died.

The five Titan passengers who died were billionaire Hamish Harding, businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman, French pilot Paul-Henry Nargeolet and OceanGate Expeditions CEO Stockton Rush.
