Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu), through Spokesperson Teuku Faizasyah, has opened its voice regarding the post of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs (Wamenlu) occupied by Pahala Nugraha Mansury, who was previously Deputy Minister State Enterprises (BUMN) .

“What is certain is that he was accepted, there was the first meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and all the leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. How is it that during the last year of government, there has been a clearer division of labor,” Teuku told the media team at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday (20/7/2023).

Furthermore, Teuku said that since his inauguration earlier this week, Pahala Mansury has been working in the Foreign Ministry and learning more about the tasks and issues currently facing the Foreign Ministry.


“As far as we know, Mr. Vice Foreign Minister, given his expertise and experience in the business aspect, it is therefore very appropriate to lead the economic diplomacy aspect later. C That’s what’s being processed right now,” Teuku said.

“Obviously, the foreign minister has given more of the assignments to the deputy foreign minister on economic diplomacy issues.”

For information, Teuku Faizasyah himself was appointed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to become Indonesian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Norway and concurrently to Iceland. Before becoming spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he also served as Indonesia’s ambassador to Canada.

“In fact, there are relatively no problems with Norway within the framework of political relations. So my task will be to focus more on economic cooperation. If we look at several cooperation platforms, especially in the sector energy, for example, and in the forestry sector. These are areas – areas that are already on the right track. Maybe my field of work will focus more on economic cooperation,” he said. .

“My job is to ensure that this continues and produces something good for Indonesia, and will be further improved in the future, how are we already on the right track in a better process of energy transition and countries like Norway have a higher commitment to help countries that want to go through the transition process,” Teuku said.

As known, Jokowi officially appointed Pahala Mansury as Deputy Foreign Minister on Monday (7/17/2023). Pahala has been Deputy Minister of BUMN since 2020. He replaced Budi Gunadi Sadikin (BGS), who was nominated by Jokowi to become Minister of Health.

Pahala was originally the Managing Chairman of PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk. However, he had a long career at Banque Mandiri until 2017.

In 2018, he was named CEO of Garuda. In 2018, he was also appointed CFO of PT Pertamina (Persero).

Pahala himself graduated from Faculty of Economics, Department of Accounting, University of Indonesia (UI) in 1994. He then continued his studies with Leonard N Stern. New York University School of Business with a Masters of Business Administration in Finance in 1994-1999.
