JAKARTA – On Monday, October 30, the Canadian Treasury Board Secretariat banned the WeChat application and antivirus programs Kaspersky of Russian origin on mobile devices due to privacy and security risks.
In a response received VOI On Tuesday, October 31, the global cybersecurity company expressed its disappointment with the Canadian government’s decision.
“Kaspersky is disappointed with the decision of the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat to prohibit the use of Kaspersky applications on government mobile devices,” Kaspersky wrote in a statement.
According to him, the decision was made without any prior warning to Kaspersky regarding the technical concerns raised by the Canadian government. Furthermore, the company believes that the decision was made for political reasons.
So, since there is no evidence or process to justify such action, Kaspersky said this ban was based on unfounded accusations.
“Kaspersky will continue to reassure its partners and customers regarding the quality and integrity of its products, and remains ready to work with Canadian government agencies to address the regulatory agencies’ concerns and reverse this decision,” concluded Kaspersky.
Kaspersky assured that since 2017 it has implemented a series of radical measures to increase transparency and reaffirm the security and reliability of its solutions.
“Our distributed infrastructure, including servers Kaspersky Security Networklocated in various countries around the world to ensure better operational speed and resilience,” he said.
The security and integrity of Kaspersky’s data services and engineering practices have also been confirmed by independent third-party assessments. Kaspersky passed a full SOC 2 Type 2 audit in 2023 and Kaspersky’s information security management system was certified according to the international standard ISO/IEC 27001:2013.
