Bahlil said it was time for Indonesia to have the opportunity to obtain a residence permit in a country by making an investment.
“We on the investment side have responded very positively to this, it’s very good so that in the future people who want to enter Indonesia don’t need to keep applying for visas. Give it to him an investment of IDR 30-40 billion, give them a visa for 5 or 10 years, it’s just an example, yes, the wording is regulated Immigration,” Bahlil said.
As for the date of the official issuance of the golden visa, Bahlil admits that he does not know. According to him, all golden visa matters are at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham), to be precise at the Directorate General of Immigration.
“The process is almost complete, all that remains is to change the PP rules. Menkumham understands where the rules change,” Bahlil said.
Previously, the Director General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Silmy Karim, once explained that a golden visa is a special visa that allows a person to obtain a residence permit or citizenship in another country simply by making an investment.
He explained that there is a residence permit of 5 to 10 years for foreign nationals who wish to invest in Indonesia.
“In the near future, this is under discussion. This golden visa offers business and residence permits of 5 and 10 years for foreign nationals who hold a certain amount of property or investment. A real investment, yeah, not a documentary investment,” Silmy said. to reporters from the Class I Immigration Office for TPI Soekarno-Hatta, Tangerang, Banten, last Tuesday (28/3/2023).
Silmy explained that the golden visa that was to be launched was very important. He gave the example of several countries that have used golden visas, such as Singapore and the United Arab Emirates.
“Why is this important because we want a lot of money to come into Indonesia through efforts to facilitate immigration. As Singapore has done, the United Arab Emirates, and then also other developed countries like Canada and America,” Silmy said.
