The bank robbery incident occurred in the town of Saanich, State of Victoria, CanadaTuesday (6/28) local time.
A shootout broke out during the robbery, killing the two perpetrators and injuring six police officers.
As quoted from AFPlocal police said in their statement that two armed men with firearms entered a bank in the town with a population of 114,000 located near British Columbia on Tuesday (6/28) afternoon around 11 a.m. local time.
“Several police officers responded to the scene of the incident and met the gunmen who opened fire on the officers. Two suspects were shot dead by the police and died instantly,” local police said in a statement. communicated.
Police added that no bank employees or other residents were victims of the shooting and robbery at the Canadian bank.
Following this incident, the police immediately evacuated the buildings around the bank as there were suspected explosives on the premises.
Police are currently still looking for a suspect who may have escaped after the armed robbery at the Canadian bank.
“This incident is still ongoing with a heavy police presence in the area,” Saanich Police Chief Dean Duthie said at a news conference.
“It’s very difficult because a number of our members are still in hospital with serious injuries,” he added.
