Movie ‘Barbie’ was a big hit in its first week of airing. Even the film directed by Greta Gerwig is in the biggest box office in history, after “Star Wars: Force Awakens”.

The success of “Barbie” cannot be separated from the looks of its actors, such as Margot Robbie as Barbie, Ryan Gosling who plays Ken, Michael Cera as Allan, and many more. Did you know that several actors refused the offer to be Ken Barbie, before the choice finally fell on the current player?

As known, there are 5 different versions of Ken which are also played by five actors. Apart from Ryan Gosling, Ken’s other players are Ncuti Gatwa, Simu Liu, Kingsley Ben-Adir and Scott Evans.

The casting director responsible for finding actors and actresses to star in the movie “Barbie” has revealed that at least three actors turned down the role of Ken. One of the main reasons they didn’t want to star in a pink-themed movie was their commitment to spend three months in London, England, for filming.

“They were, I’m not kidding…really disappointed that they couldn’t do it,” casting director Allison Jones said, as reported by the Mirror.

The three actors are Dan Levy, Ben Platt and Bowen Yang. Who are they?

1. Dan Levi

Dan Levy is a Canadian actor, screenwriter, director and producer. His character was first known to the public as a host of the MTV Live program from 2006 to 2011. His first debut movie was “Cybestalker”, released in 2012. However, his name became popular after starring in the series “Schitt’s Creek”, where he also acted as a creator, writer, director and producer.

2. Ben Platt

Ben Platt is a 29-year-old actor, singer and songwriter. In 2012, Ben had a supporting role in the musical comedy film “Pitch Perfect” alongside Anna Kendrick, Skylar Astin and Rebel Wilson.

Ben is more actively studying acting. But he also acted in many films. His latest film project is “Theater Camp” which will be released in 2024.

3. Bowen Yang

Bowen Yang is an American actor and comedian, but was born in Australia. The name of this man of Chinese descent is known after becoming one of the stars of Saturday Night Live.

The 32-year-old has also starred in several movies and TV series, including ‘The Lost City’, ‘Wicked’, ‘Broad City’ and ‘The Outs’.
