Matthews is an American coach born on May 25, 1985. Before becoming a coach, he had a playing career.

Interestingly, Matthews did not spend his career in the NBA even though he is from the United States. Instead, he played a lot outside his country, especially in Canada.

Matthews had a positive impression of the Indonesian women’s basketball team from the first meeting with the players. In the eyes, the players of the Indonesian national women’s basketball team have the desire as well as the potential to become champions.

“The first time I came I thought they were still hungry, they were pretty good, and they could all be potential winners,” Matthews said.

He still believes Indonesia has potential even though he admits he doesn’t know much about Asian basketball.
