U-17 World Cup draw results: Indonesia very lucky

Jakarta: The draw for the group stage of the U-17 World Cup concluded at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland on Friday evening, September 15, WIB. One result is that Indonesia is in Group A.

The U-17 World Cup is scheduled to take place in four Indonesian cities (Jakarta, Surabaya, Solo and Bandung) from November 10 to December 2. A total of 24 participating countries will compete, including the Indonesian national team which is participating due to its host status.

The drawing session was led by FIFA Tournament Director Jaime Yarza, assisted by former U-17 World Cup champions and finalists Stephen Appiah and Julio Cesar. Indonesia’s name came ahead of the other participating countries in Group A, followed by Ecuador, Panama and Morocco.

This result can be considered somewhat fortunate as reigning U-17 World Cup champions Brazil are in Group C with Iran, New Caledonia and England. Then, Argentina, which is the best team in the world, is in group D with Japan, Poland and Senegal.

Mexico, which has the status of champion of the CONCACAF U-17 Championship, is also in Group F. Later they will fight for tickets to the knockout stage with Germany, Venezuela and New -Zealand.
