New York: United States (US) stocks on the Wall Street stock exchange ended higher on Thursday local time.
Launch ChinaOn Friday, November 3, 2023, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 564.50 points or 1.70 percent to 33,839.08.
Meanwhile, the S&P 500 index added 79.92 points or 1.89 percent to 4,317.78. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 232.72 points, or 1.78 percent, to 13,294.19.
Unemployment claims in the United States
On the other hand, the Department of Labor reported that unemployment claims in the United States increased by 5,000 to 217,000 for the week ended October 28. The four-week rolling average of claims increased by 2,000 to 210,000.
Sterling rose after the Bank of England kept interest rates at their highest level in 15 years and stressed that it did not expect to start cutting them anytime soon.

- Dollar index, which measures greenbacks against six other major currencies, it fell 0.71 percent to 106.1285 in late trading.
- The British pound rose from 1.2132 US dollars to 1.2204 US dollars.
- The euro rose from US$1.0542 to US$1.0625.
- The US dollar bought 150.4220 Japanese yen, lower than 150.9820 Japanese yen in the previous session.
- The US dollar fell to 0.9059 Swiss francs from 0.9088 Swiss francs, and it fell to 1.3751 Canadian dollars from 1.3873 Canadian dollars.
- The US dollar fell to 11.1124 Swedish crowns from 11.2053 Swedish crowns.
