USA beat Canada, Matt Turner sends touching message

Soccer News: USA Men’s National Team goalkeeper Matt Turner has sent a moving message to teenagers with cancer following his team’s win over Canada.

The USMNT beat Canada on penalties after drawing 2–2 in 120 minutes, and Turner saved two penalty kicks in the shootout.

After the match, he removed his United States jersey to reveal the words: “RIP Malia”.

The jersey references Malia Jusczyk, a New England Revolution fan who recently died of pancreatic cancer aged 14.

He also tweeted a heartfelt message on his personal Twitter account as the player played for New England before joining Arsenal.

Turner chose to deliver a moving message about Malia after the American victory.

The result of America’s win over Kanda means they are now gearing up for the semi-final match against Panama.

He will now hope to continue impressing for his country before returning to Arsenal, where he will compete with Aaron Ramsdale for the Gunners’ No1 spot.

Turner arrived at Arsenal during the New England Revolution’s 2022 summer transfer window. Arsenal have signed the United States international for a fee of around £5million.

Before joining Arsenal, Matt Turner had been a regular in MLS since 2018, although he’s currently Arsenal’s reserve goalkeeper and Ramsdale substitute, that doesn’t mean the keeper lacks quality.
