Uzbekistan has opportunity to qualify for group stage after beating Canada

Solo (ANTARA) – The Uzbekistan U-17 national football team has the opportunity to qualify from the group stage after defeating Canada with a score of 3-0 in the Group B match of the Cup World U-17 2023 to be held at Manahan Stadium Solo, Central Java, Monday evening.

Uzbekistan, who lost 0-3 against Mali, have now won their second match against Canada.

“The match against Canada was very important. The previous first match against Mali was not ours. So, this Monday we gave everything in this match. Now we have to recover our condition and prepare for the next match . We have to think about the next match,” Uzbekistan U-17 national team coach Jamoliddin Rakhmatullaev said after the match.

In the next match, Uzbekistan will face Spain, which has already won two victories. Jamoliddine asked his team to study the opponents' strengths and weaknesses.

“I am sure our team can win the match against Spain in the last match of Group B,” he said.

“Spain already has two important victories. As for the first place, Spain will give everything against us. We also have our own plans. We will try to play as best as possible later,” Jamoliddin added.

Meanwhile, Canada coach Andrew Olivisri said his team started the match well after the Spain match.

“We started the match and we created several chances against Uzbekistan. And when the opponent's goal came, we lost our concentration a little, and the second goal really hurt us. We had struggled to break down the opposition's defense when Uzbekistan dropped their players. We have to deal with that and it's a shame we couldn't get back up,” Andrew said.

Canada, which next faces Mali, considers its potential opponent a good team. Andrew believes his team's efforts will not be easy and will try other ways to get the three points against Mali.

“We know that they also really need three points to qualify from Group B. Our match against Mali will take place in Surabaya. We will first recover from today's match,” said Andrew, who plans to travel to Surabaya with his team by bus.
