VNL 2023: Fighting in five sets, Canada beats the Netherlands

Volleyball News: In the follow-up match to VNL 2023 which was played in Bangkok on Saturday (01/07), Canada and the Netherlands battled for five sets and the North American team emerged victorious with a score of 3-2 (25-27, 25-16, 18-25, 25-23, 15-9).

Outside hitter Alexa Gray led the Canadian offense with 25 points (23 kills, one ace, one block), while middle blocker Indy Baijens had 19 points (13 kills, two aces, four blocks) for the Netherlands.

Based on the results of other matches on the same day, the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) 2023 final round roster is complete after Japan claimed the last spot in Saturday’s (07/01) match, in Bangkok, in Thailand, and will travel to Arlington, USA to compete in the final which will take place from July 12-16.

Japan were the last national team to secure a place in the 2023 VNL Finals, having triumphed in the Asian Derby against Thailand, earning a 3-0 victory (25-18, 25-22, 25-20) in the from the last match of the day to the Hua Indoor Stadium brand.

Japan’s seventh victory in the VNL 2023 lifted the team to fifth place with 21 points, beyond the reach of any opponents currently sitting outside the qualifying zone. Meanwhile, Thailand sits in 13th place, with two wins and a collection of eight points.

Japan captain and outside hitter Sarina Koga led her team to victory with 19 points (14 kills, two aces, three blocks).
