A submarine shipwreck tourism Titanic declared missing after 1 hour 45 minutes of diving off the Canadian coast, Atlantic Ocean, Sunday (6/18), local time.

The submarine was carrying five tourists, including two billionaires and the CEO of the OceanGate shipping agency.

This vessel has advanced safety features such as a real-time hull health monitoring (RTM) system that can analyze the stresses and structural integrity of the vessel.

With this system, any problems with the ship will trigger an “early warning” signal to the pilot, giving him enough time to return to the surface safely.

However, former commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command, Harry B. Harris Jr., said that the fact that the submarine has not appeared independently until now indicates that there is a problem.

The search would be complicated if the submarine did not emit any sounds or signals.

Initially, the Coast Guard estimated the submarine had 70 to 96 hours of oxygen. Search teams therefore had until Friday this week to rescue the tourists.

However, on Tuesday, U.S. Coast Guard officials estimated the sub had only about 40 hours of oxygen left.

Although it is not yet clear what happened, a number of experts predict several reasons why the submarine lost contact.

Here are four expert theories about possible reasons for the disappearance of the Titan submarine. See next page >>>
