Yes, pickleball and tennis are similar. Both are played by hitting the ball into the opponent’s zone using some sort of racket. However, if you pay attention, there are several differences between the two.

Now, the Indonesian pickleball scene is preparing to jump even higher to make the sport even more popular. Nearby, it is hoped that pickleball can be played as an exhibition sport during the 2024 National Sports Week (PON).

Aside from that, Pickleball Indonesia, as the body that oversees this sport nationally, also hopes to spread its wings. When it was just inaugurated within the framework of KONI, the PB IPF already existed in 25 provinces. The goal is to reach 13 additional provinces.

Pickleball World Championship

2023 will truly be a new milestone for the Indonesian sport of Pickleball. In addition to finally officially becoming part of KONI, the 2023 World Pickleball Championship will also be held in Indonesia.

The event was held in Sanur, Bali, from September 19 to 24. Pickleball athletes from various countries also participated.

It was recorded that 594 athletes competed in Bali. They come from 20 countries, namely Australia, Austria, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, England, Costa Rica, Canada, USA, Philippines , India, Hong Kong, Korea, Germany, France and Laos.

There were different numbers of matches. These figures cover the age range from 16 to over 70 years old. In each age group there are single and double categories in which male, female and mixed athletes participate. Apart from this, the levels are divided into open, intermediate and advanced. In total there are around 4,000 matches.

“I have high hopes that in the future, through this event, Indonesia will not only be a good host, but we will also produce international-class pickeball athletes,” said General President (Ketum ) of the central KONI, Lieutenant General TNI Purn Marciano Norman. .
