Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Indonesia will host the 43rd Southeast Asian (ASEAN) Summit 2023 at the Jakarta Convention Center from September 5 to 7, 2023. The 43rd ASEAN Jakarta Summit will discuss development and strengthening ASEAN’s cooperation with external partners.

Leaders from various countries will definitely participate in the 43rd ASEAN Summit, namely ASEAN member countries including Timor Leste, ASEAN dialogue partner countries and two invited countries.

Seventeen people were present, namely Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin and ASEAN membership candidate Timor Leste, represented by Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao. Next, from countries outside ASEAN, there will be the Prime Ministers of India, Japan, China and the President of South Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol.


Meanwhile, the Cook Islands, also invited as chair of the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF), was represented by the Prime Minister of the Cook Islands, Mark Brown. Bangladesh was also invited as it chairs the Indian Ocean Coastal Nations Association (IORA).

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also attended the ASEAN summit. Along with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, they were the heads of non-Asian governments attending the ASEAN summit.

During this event, there were a total of 12 meetings in three days. On September 5, two main meetings will take place, namely the 43rd ASEAN Summit (plenary session) and the 43rd ASEAN Summit (Retreat session).

Then continued with six meetings on September 6. These include the 26th ASEAN-China Summit, the 24th ASEAN-Republic of Korea (ROK) Summit, the 26th ASEAN-Japan Summit, the 11th ASEAN-US Summit, the ASEAN-Canada Summit, and the 26th ASEAN Summit plus three (APT) (ASEAN with Japan). – ROK-RPC).

Then four meetings on September 7, namely the 20th ASEAN-India Summit, the 3rd ASEAN-Australia Summit, the 13th ASEAN-UN Summit and the 18th East Asia Summit. Besides the 12 summit meetings, there will also be 13 bilateral meetings chaired by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

For your information, this summit aims to strengthen the achievements and foundations of the ASEAN 2045 vision. The Jakarta meeting is also expected to become the basis for strengthening ASEAN institutions in terms of effective and efficient decision-making.

Apart from this, the 43rd ASEAN Summit is also expected to result in several important agreements, such as agreements regarding strengthening ASEAN infrastructure, food security, blue economy And green economyas well as Digital Economy And payments ecosystem.
