Jakarta: Apple has taken a major step in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities by acquiring a Canadian startup called DarwinAI. This is seen as having the potential to be the start of innovation for this billion-dollar technology company.

Quote Gizmochina, Apple only confirmed the acquisition, without providing any information on future plans. Founded in 2017, DarwinAI has created a niche AI ​​space with two key technologies.

These two technologies are inspection and machine learning technology to produce a reduced AI system. Public records indicate that DarwinAI received total funding of $15.5 million (Rs. 242.2 billion) over five years.
Lockheed Martin and Intel are listed as DarwinAI's largest collaborators. Following the acquisition, DarwinAI's online presence disappeared, with its website and social media accounts deactivated.

Many former DarwinAI employees have reportedly joined Apple's AI division, with AI researcher Alexander Wong as director. Although Apple has confirmed this acquisition, no statement has been released regarding the company's goals or future plans.

The move could be part of a larger-scale effort to integrate AI features across their product lines, including the upcoming iOS 18 and macOS 15 operating systems. Apple is reportedly working hard to close the gap with its competitors such as Microsoft and Google.

Apple's ambition to enter the field of generative AI is seen as having the potential to integrate this technology into Siri, Shortcuts and other core applications. Rumors also suggest that Apple is actively testing the Large Language Model and obtaining new patents for prominent industrial designs.

Previously, Southeast Asia was home to hundreds of thousands of developers behind more than 90,000 apps. To support this rapidly growing ecosystem, Apple opened its first development center in Singapore.

The hope is that this will make it easier for developers in the region to access Apple's experts and support to learn the latest technologies and resources, so that later developers can create apps and games at a higher level.
