Chantal Sutherland began her career in 2000. Two years later, she won the Prix Souverain for the best apprentice jockey in Canada.
That same year, Sutherland became the first female jockey to win the Hollywood Gold Cup. Five years later, she became the third Canadian to reach 1,000 career wins.
