Ligaosport.com –

Tennis News: Canadian Felix Auger Aliassime has now won 11 straight after securing his place in the semi-finals of the Swiss Indoors in Basel for the 2022 season.

In dominant form, the third seed hit 28 winners and committed just four unforced errors en route to beating Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik 6-2, 6-3 after 73 minutes. Thanks to the victory, he is now ahead in their head to head with 2-1.

“It was an impressive match. It’s very important for me to stay disciplined and focused on my serve,” Auger Aliassime said.

“I wasn’t broken throughout the tournament and this time I did my best to stay focused on my serve. I was able to take advantage of several opportunities. The first break opportunity is important. Takes the pressure off myself right from the start. It’s the best way to start the game.”

“Over the last two months I’ve been training a lot better, focused on what I have to do, and I’m trying to show that in this game.”

With a 51st win for the 2022 season, the player who won back-to-back titles in Florence and Antwerp now boosts his chances of qualifying for the season-ending ATP Finals in Turin in November.

Currently, the 22-year-old sits seventh in the ATP Race to Turin rankings with 3,315 points. He is 405 points clear of eighth-placed American Taylor Fritz, who is eyeing his ATP Finals debut. If the Canadian wins his fourth title of the season at the Swiss Indoors, he will overtake Andrey Rublev who is in sixth place.

Auger Aliassime arrived at the 500-level ATP tournament, the Swiss Indoors, picking up back-to-back victories in Florence and Antwerp. After a fierce first-half three-set clash against Marc Andrea Huesler, the third seed is warming up as he has lost just six games of his last two en route to the semi-finals against number 1 World Carlos Alcaraz.
