Felix Auger Aliassime tries not to panic despite early return from Paris

Tennis News: Felix Auger Aliassime has revealed he faced physical constraints before losing in straight sets to Fabio Fognini in the first round of the 2023 French Open season.

Auger Aliassime, seeded tenth at Roland-Garros this season, said: “I was a little sick the night before, I couldn’t really sleep. Yes, sick all night. It’s the truth.”

The Canadian warmed up for the match and tried to get into the best position for the match, but she couldn’t find her best form against Italian veteran Fognini.

“After one set, I started to feel cramped and couldn’t move. So, yeah, I don’t know,” added the Canadian. “I didn’t know if I should have continued or given myself a chance or if I should have stopped. It was a tough time, but that’s okay. I just need to be healthy again.

The tenth seed also admitted his shoulder was fine. He is passionate about taking care of his physical side.

“I have to understand why I was sick like that and also a week ago it happened in Lyon. I get sick in the same way,” confesses the Canadian tennis player.

“Yeah, I only have two or three things to know, do a test, a series of tests.”

A season ago, the Canadian tennis player showed his best performance at Roland Garros, where he cornered Rafael Nadal to play five sets. This season, he immediately fell in the first round. But he always thinks positively.

“Obviously it’s more difficult when you lose and you don’t play well, also when you don’t feel good in your body, but I try not to worry too much, not to panic,” said Auger Aliassime.

“There are still a lot of tournaments to go this season and I’m sure as things improve I can play well and have some awesome moments on the court this season.”

“I shouldn’t panic. These are difficult times. I have to do my best, find a way to overcome this situation.”
