In the last quarterfinal match held at the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay, Wednesday (6/9/2023) evening WIB, Canada faced strong resistance from Slovenia in the first quarter.

They only led 26-24 before being pushed back by Slovenia in the second quarter. Led by Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic, Slovenia tied the score at 50-50 at the end of the first half of this match.

However, Canada went crazy again in the third quarter. Leaning on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Dillon Brooks and RJ Barrett, Canada scored 30 points to 21 points to lead 80-71.

At the start of the fourth quarter, Canada still dominated, but Slovenia tried to catch up. However, until the end of the match, Canada still came out on top with a score of 100-89.

Although in the fourth quarter Canada lost Brooks to a foul, Slovenia also suffered the same fate after Doncic was sent off. Shai shined with 31 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.

He was supported by RJ Barrett with 24 points, Nickeil Alexander-Walker with 14 points and Brooks with 14 points. On the Slovenian side, it was Luka Doncic who had the best performance with 26 points.

Canada followed three teams that had already reached the semi-finals: Germany, the United States and Serbia. In the first four matches, Canada will meet Serbia, followed by the United States against Germany on Friday (8/9/2023).
