G7 condemns North Korean arms deliveries to Russia for Ukraine war


TOKYO, KOMPAS.com – The foreign ministers of the G7 countries condemned on Wednesday (08/11/2023) arms transfers from North Korea to Russia.

“The G7 Foreign Ministers strongly condemn North Korea’s repeated launches of ballistic missiles as well as the transfer of weapons from North Korea to Russia, which directly violate relevant UN Security Council resolutions. UN,” said the Japanese Foreign Ministry, quoted by the AFP news agency.

The rich G7 countries, namely Great Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United States, as well as the European Union, met in Tokyo on the 7th and November 8 to discuss issues such as the war between Russia and Ukraine and the crisis between Israel and Gaza.

According to South Korea’s intelligence agency earlier this month, North Korea has supplied Russia with more than a million artillery shells for the war in Ukraine.

In return, Pyongyang sought advice from Moscow on satellite technology.

North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin met in September 2023 in the Russian Far East.

The United States then claimed that Pyongyang had started supplying weapons to Moscow.

“Reaffirming that they (the G7 Foreign Ministers) recognize the importance of honestly engaging and expressing our concerns directly to China, recognizing the need to cooperate with China on global challenges as well as on areas of mutual interest,” Japan said.
