Bisnis.com, SOLO – U-17 World Cup standings The year 2023 will see changes after the second match of Group A and Group B is held.

Group A and Group B teams completed the second day U-17 World Cup 2023 on Monday (11/13/2023).

Group A consisting of Indonesia, Morocco, Ecuador and Panama played at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya, East Java.

Meanwhile, Group B, consisting of Spain, Uzbekistan, Mali and Canada, played at Manahan Stadium, Solo, Central Java.

Two Group A matches took place yesterday afternoon and evening. Ecuador beat Morocco 2-0 in the first match.

Ecuador’s two winning goals were scored by Michael Bermudez in the 62nd and 90+3 minutes.

This result propelled Ecuador to the top of Group A with a score of 4 points for 1 win and 1 draw.

For its part, Morocco had to slip to 2nd place with a harvest of 3 points thanks to the victory against Panama in the first match of group A.

After this match, Indonesia drew 1-1 against Panama. Falling behind thanks to Oldemar Castillo’s goal in first-half injury time, Indonesia responded with Arkhan Kaka’s header in the 54th minute.

Garuda Muda temporarily occupies 3rd place in Group A with 2 points, resulting in 2 draws against Ecuador and Panama.

Panama are bottom of Group A with 1 point after holding the hosts just as strong.

No team has been confirmed qualified or eliminated from Group A. The determination of qualification will be known during the third day which will be held on Thursday (16/11/2023).

Spain, first team in the round of 16

The Spanish U-17 national team made history as the first team to qualify for the knockout stages of the 2023 U-17 World Cup.

This was confirmed after Spain’s 1-0 victory over Mali yesterday afternoon.

Spain’s only goal against Mali was scored by Juan Hernández in the 62nd minute. Despite their victory, Spain encountered difficulties against 10 Malian players after Mamadou Doumbia was sent off in the 40th minute.

With 2 victories, Spain has the right to win a ticket to the round of 16 of the 2023 U-17 World Cup. Spain’s points total can no longer be chased by Mali or Uzbekistan who occupy second and third places.

In the other matches, Uzbekistan beat Canada 3-0 thanks to an own goal from Mba Richard Mmah Chukwu (22′) and 2 goals from Amirbek Saidov (24′ and 80′).

Uzbekistan still has a chance to qualify in the top 2 of Group B, provided that Mali loses against Canada on the third day, Thursday (16/11/2023).

Meanwhile, Canada, who suffered 2 defeats, can only hope to qualify through the best route of 3rd place, although it is quite difficult as currently they have not scored any points.
