F1 News: Former F1 driver Damon Hill sees Lewis Hamilton’s performance continuing to improve over time so he believes the driver can win the race at the Spa circuit.
Lewis Hamilton is now ranked sixth in the 2022 F1 Drivers’ Standings. The Mercedes driver has never set foot on the highest podium, but has made it to the top three six times, including five from the last five series.
The points are now accumulated 146 points, 10 points behind Carlos Sainz who is a level above him. But compared to the leader of the classification, Max Verstappen, Hamilton is still at 112 points.
Without looking at the evolution of the classification, the former F1 driver, Damon Hill, felt that the performance of the Briton was improving. In addition, Hamilton has finished in P2 or P3 in the last five races, in Canada, England, Austria, France and Hungary.
Therefore, Hill believes that Lewis Hamilton will soon be back to his best form. The 61-year-old even thinks the driver can win the Belgian GP series this weekend.
“I think (the victory) will be Lewis,” he said, as quoted by the Express page.
“I think if it’s anyone other than Max Verstappen’s win, I’m going to back Lewis because I have a hunch he’s going to win this year’s race,” Hill added.
Previously, Hamilton used his summer holidays to travel across Africa. He claimed to have become a different person when he returned from his trip.
“These past two weeks have been some of the best days of my life. I’m not the same man I was before this trip, all the beauty, love and peace I’ve experienced has made me feel feeling completely changed,” Hamilton wrote in a post. on his personal Instagram account.
