MerahWhite.com – Four district school boards in Ontario, Canada filed a lawsuit against three social media platforms on Thursday (3/28). Indeed, these three platforms are considered to interfere with student learning.

The statement also explains that the three platform providers have “negligently designed and marketed addictive products that undermine efforts to improve student achievement and well-being.”

Next, educators need to spend more time in the classroom monitoring problems caused by social media.

They were also forced to restructure the curriculum to account for concentration and mental health issues, as well as changes in student behavior.

“Students’ compulsive use of social media places a tremendous burden on the Board’s limited resources,” the statement said.

The lawsuit demands that the three platform providers make their products more secure and pay damages for violating the duties of school boards and students' fundamental right to education.

The four school boards would demand compensation of US$3.3 billion, or approximately Rp.52.33 trillion. (*)
