National team manager: 5-0 victory over Canada started well in Sudirman Cup

In the Group B qualifiers held on Monday, Indonesia won all matches and also did not lose a single match against Canada.

Indonesia's victory was opened by the mixed doubles pair Adnan Maulana/Nita Violina Marwah who started the match well. They contributed to Indonesia's first points against Canada after beating Dong Adam/Josephine Wu with a score of 22-20, 21-15.

Then in the second game, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting also performed well. He successfully defeated Brian Yang 21-17, 21-16 to give Indonesia a 2-0 lead.

It was the turn of the women's singles for Gregoria Mariska Tunjung to play the third match and she did not want to lose either. He also managed to beat Talia Ng with a score of 21-14, 21-13.

“The key to my victory was playing calmly, without rushing, and reducing my own mistakes. Apart from that, the support of my friends on the court also helped me. I was able to play with more enthusiasm,” said Gregoria.

Indonesia increased its lead to 4-0 after Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo won. The pair nicknamed the Minions won 21-16, 21-18 against Kevin Lee/Ty Alexander Lindeman.

Finally, women's doubles Ribka Sugiarto/Lanny Tria Mayasari completed Indonesia's 5-0 victory over Canada after winning back-to-back matches 21-11, 21-8 against Catherine Choi/Michelle Li.

“Thank God I was able to play well and lead Indonesia to victory and a 5-0 score. Overall, the match went well. Especially after Indonesia won 4-0, we didn’t seem too tense,” Lanny said.

Armand's 5-0 victory against Canada could be an asset for the national team which will face Germany in the second match on Tuesday.

“I just remind the players not to be too confident because there is still the next match which will certainly be much harder,” concluded Armand.
