Google pays Canadian media 1.1 trillion rupees per year

Google will pay Canadian media IDR 1.1 trillion to ensure that the latest news is always published in its search engine.

Google has just agreed to collaborate with one of the Canadian media, the Canada Online News Act, to broadcast the latest news on Google Search. With this collaboration, Google is obliged to pay the Canada Online News Act an amount of $73.6 million (approximately 1.1 trillion rupees) annually.

Report of The Guardian (11/30), Google agreed to establish this collaboration so that its search engine always receives the latest important news, particularly in Canada. The Canadian government has in fact issued regulations according to which the commercial media system is now remunerated if anything search engine want to display it.

Media companies will thus benefit from a significant increase in their revenues. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he was very satisfied with the agreement between Google and Canadian media.

“Google has agreed to adequately support journalists, including local journalism,” said Justin Trudeau.

Unlike Google, Meta It appears that so far the new regulatory system in Canada has not been accepted. Meta is therefore currently still limited in the number of news that appear on its pages,

However, the Canadian government has stated that this new system will also be adapted by other countries. Germany is reportedly in the process of implementing new regulations on journalism similar to those currently in force in Canada.
