Pulisic confirmed absent from US national team against Canada and Cuba

Premier League News: Christian Pulisic has been ruled out of USA's matches against Canada and Cuba after injuring his hip in Chelsea's win over Crystal Palace last weekend.

Having struggled to establish himself in the Premier League following his arrival from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, Pulisic has featured for the Blues in recent weeks, scoring five goals in Chelsea's three league matches.

However, the United States will not call the 21-year-old up to the national team for Concacaf Nations League matches this international break due to an injury during Chelsea's 2-0 win over Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.

“Christian will officially be out at this point,” said US coach Gregg Berhalter. “We just received this information.”

“It’s always a difficult decision as this team and the coaching staff would love nothing more than to have Christian Pulisic here, but it’s a risk we are not prepared to take at the moment.”

The United States will face Group A leader Canada, which they still trail by six points, on Friday (11/15) local time, before playing a match against Cuba four days later.

To qualify for the round of 16, Berhalter's team will need to win both games and overcome a three-goal gap against Canada.
