Regional Secretary on Jakarta after it is no longer a capital: a global business

DKI Jakarta Regional Secretary Joko Agus Setyono revealed the direction of the city’s development Jakarta after no longer being the capital of the country. Joko said that Jakarta will become a global service city.

“In accordance with the transfer of the national capital from Jakarta to IKN. Jakarta will continue to exist as a global business city. We will build (Jakarta) to become a business city, a global service city” , said Joko Agus. on the sidelines of the ASEAN Capital Governors and Mayors Meeting (MGMAG) and Asia Mayors Forum (AMF) 2023 at the Fairmont Hotel in Jakarta on Tuesday (1/8/2023).

Agus explained a number of preparations made by Jakarta to become a global service city. One of them is to draft regulations in the form of the specific Jakarta bill.

“Currently, still under discussion,” he explained.

Joko said discussions on the Jakarta Specificity Bill have been intensely driven internally by the DKI provincial government. So far, his party has absorbed various public aspirations through public consultations.

“So, in fact, it’s been intense under every aide. So next week we’ll discuss it with the governor,” he said.

Other preparations underway are the construction of infrastructure and urban infrastructure conducive to business. From the construction of rail transport to the intensification of digitalization.

“The infrastructure must be good. We will build light rail transport (LRT), rapid transit (MRT) etc. to support the smooth operation of all business-related activities,” he said. .
