VNL 2023: Yuki Ishikawa records the highest point, Japan beats Canada

Volleyball News: In the first game of the VNL 2023 tournament in Orleans on Tuesday (06/20), leader Japan remained undefeated in the competition as they secured their fifth straight win, winning 3-1 (25-22 , 25-17 , 24-26, 25-14) in Canada.

The loss kept Canada at the bottom of the standings with a 1-4 win-loss record and two points. Japanese star and team captain Yuki Ishikawa produced a game-high 23 points, including three aces and one block.

Among other matches that took place on the same day, Slovenia started the second week of the Men’s Volleyball Nations League (VNL) 2023 with a 3-1 victory (21-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-21) Argentina in pool 3 in OrlĂ©ans on Tuesday (20/06).

The win brings the win-loss record to 4-1 and 12 points to third in the current standings. Meanwhile, the South American team sits in fifth place with a 3-2 win-loss record and nine points.

Slovenian star Klemen Cebulj contributed 17 points to his side’s success, including his first three aces of the tournament, as well as some killer blocks. Rok Mozic added another 16 points, while captain Tine Urnaut finished with 12 points.

Meanwhile, from the Argentina team, Luciano Palonsky led Argentina and contributed the highest points for his country in this game, he collected a total of 17 points, followed by Bruno Lima with 16 points including two ace and Agustin Loser with 11 points.
