In mid-June, the number of forest fires in Quebec began to decrease, from 72 to 44. This number is still quite high, but some are starting to be brought under control.

Quebec Natural Resources Minister Maite Blanchette Vézina said the numbers showed that firefighting in Quebec was starting to excel there.

However, Canada still had 431 active fires as of Sunday June 11. This marked the worst spring fires in the country, according to the Canadian Interagency Wildfire Center.
