Bappenas collaborates with Canada to develop the rural economy

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – The Ministry of National Development Planning (NPP)/Bappenas, in collaboration with the Government of Canada through Global Affairs Canada (GAC), launched the second phase of the Responsive Innovation Fund (RIF) program .

This program is designed as technical support for the development of 18 National Priority Rural Areas (KPPNs) through selection from 60 KPPNs which are hinterlands of 39 growth centers to increase town-village linkages. This territory constitutes one of the regional development objectives of the RPJMN 2015-2019.

Deputy for Regional Development of the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas Rudy Soeprihadi Prawiradinata said that the development of rural areas is one of the main objectives that support the development of new growth poles.

This involves accelerating regional development and reducing development gaps between regions, through local economic development based on the superior products of each region.

“Local economic development is the main support for national economic performance. Rino A Sa’danoer, as the project director of this program, said that the partnership between the Indonesian and Canadian governments through this project provides responsive innovation funds of IDR 1 billion per year for each of the 18 rural areas National Priorities (KPPN) via the RIF program. .
