Analisadaily.com, Los Angels – Margot Robbie spoke candidly about the Barbie movie, which hits theaters Friday, July 21, 2023. Robbie, as she’s affectionately known, isn’t just one of the actresses in the film, she’s also one of the producers of the $145 million movie.

In an interview, Robbie, who was joined by actor Ryan Gosling, admitted he had to make this movie, and it’s one of the greatest movies he’s ever produced.

Robbie said, this movie seemed to say it would free him from his duties.

“I can’t tell you what a weird weight was lifted off my shoulders when I heard those words, that’s why I had to make this movie and it’s the greatest movie I’ve ever made, and I have to answer to two big companies, a director I respect a lot and of course the actors,” Robbie said as quoted by Reuters on Friday (7/21/2023).

Barbie is directed by Greta Gerwig, nominated for the prestigious Academy Award for directing the film “Lady Bird” in 2017.

Robbie said, The Barbie Movie tells the life story of Barbies who have different characters. In this all pink world, all the girls are called Barbie and the boys are called Ken, even if they share the same name, each of them can recognize and tell the difference.

The conflict that was created in the Barbie movie offers a story idea about the existential crisis that Barbie is going through. This leads to a chain of events that snaps him out of his all-pink plastic perfect world, forcing him into the real human world.

The Barbie movie, which debuted Friday, July 21, 2023, is expected to gross over $100 million in US theaters in its first weekend.

Although the Barbie doll debuted in 1959 in animated form, it took the character more than 60 years to hit the big screen.

Robbie, however, feels the film’s message is particularly important to today’s audiences.

“I think we often expect to be everything, to do everything and to be perfect, and in that pursuit of perfection, we all realize that’s somehow impossible,” Robbie said.

Instead of striving for perfection, the hope is that the film will be a gift for “anyone” to let go of all the worries that plagued them, and yes, it’s just a matter of enjoying it, whatever it is.

Meanwhile, Canadian actor Ryan Gosling, who plays the Ken doll, says the film has something for everyone to enjoy.

“This movie is like an amusement park. It’s like, there’s a different journey for everyone, so everyone can have their own experience, and that’s the beauty of it. Yeah, this movie is for everyone,” he concluded.
