“Don't worry! “The process that happened there does not affect the operations of The Body Shop Indonesia as a franchise,” management said in a post on Instagram @thebodyshopindo, quoted on Wednesday ( 13/3/2024).
As part of a global franchise, the company said all stores will remain open. “We remain open to serve you all,” he stressed.
According to a CNN report, The Body Shop will no longer operate in the United States as of March 1, 2024. As many as 33 of the 105 stores in Canada will also be closed soon, while the rest will remain open.
This choice was made after the cosmetics and skincare company filed for liquidation in the court of New York, United States. The filing means The Body Shop will sell certain assets to pay its creditors' debts and fund its operations.
Citing NBC News, Wednesday (13/3), the beauty salon confirmed that it had also proposed restructuring in its home country of England as well as in Canada. A Body Shop spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment. According to The Guardian, around fifty sites in the United States were still in operation when the liquidation file was filed.
