Canada steps in to investigate Facebook

Vancouver (ANTARA News) – Canada’s federal data protection agency, along with an office in British Columbia, will investigate Facebook Inc and data firm AggregateIQ over data leaks.

As reported by Reuters, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada said the investigation would focus on whether the company violated federal and provincial regulations regarding personal data.

Canadian commissioners began investigating Facebook in March after The New York Times and London’s Observer reported that Facebook data had been used by political consulting firm Cambridge Analytica.
